| BRACK HANDICAP SINGLES - September 24th With our season underway and the weather playing it's part we have completed the 1st of our handicap singles events, the Brack. Congratulations to Jim Maitland who beat Doug Ferrier in the final. A good warm up for the season, well done Jim. | |
| BILL FRIZZELL PASSING Bill, one of our long serving members sadly passed away yesterday. Bill was our long running Secretary for what seemed forever as well as an active Centre Delete and Umpire. Our thoughts are with Pauline and Bill's family at this time. | |
| CLUB CHAMPIONS FOUND - March 5th This years Club Championships have come to an end with all our champions found. | |
| MEN's FOURS & LADIES SINGLES FINAL - February 10th It's coming down to the wire in our season and it's Post Section time for most events. | |
| LADIES NEW YEAR FOURS - January 2nd The big gala event for our ladies has just been completed. The Jean Dodd Memorial Trophy was won by
Sandra Prichard, Marie Hoare, Elle Walters & Sharon Brooking. This team was a late entry and a mixed one
from different clubs. The weather was great for the 2 days and the bowls were competitive. | |
| MEN's XMAS TRIPLES - December 27th Our annual men's triples event was played Dec 27th & 28th with cold southerly winds. A great turn
out of 18 teams had a challanging 2 days play with strong winds making play extremely even. The lead
changed numerous times and final positions were only decided on the last game of day 2. | |
| PAT NICOLS PASSING - December 21st Our honourary member Pat passed away on Thursday last week. It was a great turn out to her funeral. Pat was a long serving member of our club and was always involved with Match Committee's, Raffles and gala's. She will be missed. Our thoughts are with Pat's family at this time. | |
| CHARLIE LAULU PASSING Yet another member passes away, Charlie Laulu was a great member of the club suddenly passed away on Tuesday. Charlie would alway travel into the club from Porirua and was involved in the club over a long period of time. Our thoughts are with Charlies family at this time. | |
| WINTER GAMES 2017 Our indoor events that are held over the Winter season have come to a conclusion with our finals of Pool, Snooker, Darts, Table Bowls and Indoor Bowls held last Saturday at the club. Congrats to all the winners, a great day of finals and fun prize giving to following. | |
| OPENING DAY 2017 Our summer season is almost here, Opening Day this year is Saturday September 9th at 4:30pm. | |
| IAN TURNER PASSING Another sad loss to our club with the recent passing of one of our Life Members, Ian Turner. A valued member Ian was always at the club on a Saturday afternoon for his regular 2 bottles of Speights. He will be missed. | |
| AGM Our club this year welcomed a lot of fresh new changes in both the Executive and on different
committee's within the club. With our Vice President, Secretary & Executive member changes we will
see some great new ideas to help the club more onward towards bigger and better things for Lyall Bay BC. |
